3 Astounding Facts You NEVER Knew About THE EXORCIST Author William Peter Blatty

God rest his soul.... A quiet man, and one with such professionalism that you'd consider him the shadow of a Stephen King, immersed in the throes of storytelling from screenplay to novel, and even directing. That's right. He did even that, among other things:

He Published an Autobiography, 3 Nonfiction Works, 11 Other Novels, and Lots of Screenplays!

Busy man. And we all thought he was only responsible for the iconic film (I mean the book), THE EXORCIST.

Make no mistake: William Peter Blatty was way ahead of his time, publishing the disturbing novel back in 1971 and then getting it optioned for film in one of the biggest horror films we'd ever remember seeing. He even worked very closely with the director on the movie, ensuring it received its proper treatment.

There are some things you don't even know about the man that might blow you away, though. Three facts, actually. Just don't spin your head and vomit over it. Or you might get exorcised.

Surprising, Right? He Was an Auteur. He Was Much More Than a 'Horror Author'.

Definitely something to always remember him by.

Thank you for the terror, Blatty. The twisting head. The spider-walk on the stairs. The shears cutting the head off in the hospital. We have a TV show to commemorate you, but nothing ultimately will compare.

  1. Love this post! I'm a big exorcist fan- even named my dog Merrin! Keep up the good work!

  2. Oh, that's so cool. I do hope they renew the current television series based on the franchise.
