Period Slasher ‘No One Will Hear Your Scream’ is Set During 1990 Soccer World Cup

Upcoming period slasher No One Will Hear Your Scream is set during the 1990 soccer World Cup, and Variety reports today that Black Mandala has picked up international sales rights ahead of the Cannes Film Market.

The ’90s slasher hails from writer and director Mariano Cattaneo.

Set in Argentina, the film follows “Micaela, a young woman who works at a record store making mixtapes, as she discovers that a killer is connected to her through a compilation she created and sold. With each Argentina World Cup match bringing a new victim, Micaela races to uncover the murderer’s identity before she potentially becomes the final target.”

Sol Wainer (A Silent Death, Perdida), Byron Barbieri (“The Eternaut” ) and Germán Baudino (History of the Occult) star.

Cattaneo has described the film as “a physical and emotionally charged film, with football [soccer] as a backdrop, music as a conduit for emotion, and a coming-of-age story intertwined with both classic and modern slasher elements.”

Stay tuned for news on No One Will Hear Your Scream as it heads to Cannes Market and seeks distribution. In the meantime, the upcoming slasher with a World Cup backdrop isn’t the only sports themed horror on the horizon. Director Justin Tipping (Kicks) teams with producer Jordan Peele on gridiron nightmare movie HIM, set to release this September.
