Latest ‘Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef’ Update Adds Much-Requested Map Editor

Not even a month after the last update that introduced the Flamethrower into the game, The Fine Arc has released another update for Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef, this time adding a Map Editor with Mod Browser Integration. The game is also enjoying a 15% discount on Steam through June 9.

The addition of the Map Editor allows players to create custom maps using assets from the first two acts of the game. That includes enemies, weapons, pickups, and more. And thanks to the Mod Browser Integration, you’re also able to download creations from other players. The Map Editor is still “experimental,” so you can expect more updates as the team smooths out the rougher edges.

Last update’s Flamethrower has seen a rebalancing, making it “more vicious and chaotic” to use. As a result, it now burns through fuel faster. Incantations have also been rebalanced for “deeper strategic decision-making.”

The blood system has also seen a rework, with new splat decals, persistent gore, and “more juice, more style.”

And of course, the update also includes various bugfixes. You can read the patch notes for the update here.

Still to come in Early Access for Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef is the game’s final act, which will have a new weapon, as well as new enemies and the game’s final boss.
