Summer Update for ‘Dying Light 2: Stay Human’ Adds New Crossover Content and More [Trailer]

To go along with yesterday’s Retouched Update for the original Dying Light, Techland has in turn launched a Summer Update for Dying Light 2: Stay Human as part of the series’ 10th anniversary celebrations. The update sees Dying Light 2 enjoying another crossover, this time teaming up with indie hit Balatro with the Friend of Aiden Bundle.

“We promised at least five years of support for Dying Light 2, and our fans can count on it,” says Tymon Smektała, Dying Light Franchise Director. “This summer we’re going all in for our community. We’re celebrating our incredibly talented modding community with a UGC Fest and have a full house of free content in the Dying Light 2 x Balatro: Friend of Aiden crossover.”

The bundle introduces two new side quests, along with several free items. Among them is the ever-changing Joker Charm that leans into the very essence of Balatro‘s game of chance and unpredictability. Every time you equip it is a test of fortune about the effect that it unlocks.

Meanwhile, to begin the new quests, simply look for the mysterious posters in the Bazaar and the Fish Eye. Conquer the riddles that will test your knowledge of Villedor, and you’ll unlock the Friend of Aiden Bundle, which includes:

  • Jimbo’s Outfit: No clowning around with this outfit on, you’ve got a job to do: kill some zombies!

  • Ceremonial Dagger: It’s no longer just a Joker. Grab the dagger and show ‘em you’re not bluffing! Increase your multiplier by defeating different types of enemies, performing finishers and destroying Joker Charms.

  • Joker Charm: Which Joker will you get? Who knows! Create a charm, and you’ll receive a random one with a unique gameplay effect. Just like in Balatro, some will be more useful than others.

  • Flying Blind Paraglider: You might miss out on a few chips, but every poker player has to have an exit plan when the odds aren’t looking good.

On top of the new crossover content, there’s also the Dying Light 2: Stay Human UGC Fest, a four-week-long celebration of the community’s creativity and dedication. Players can take on brand-new bounties that dive into the best of the community-made content, and take away cool rewards.

Highlights of the UGC Fest include:

  • Featured Community Maps: Each week, three community-created maps will take the spotlight, inviting players to explore and experience the creativity within the talented Dying Light community.

  • New Visual Mods: Experiment with a wide range of new visual mods, including weapon visual mods crafted as part of a recent mod contest, and brand new maps created specifically for the event.

Beyond new content and community celebrations, the Summer Update also introduces smaller fixes and improvements to the game, addressing issues in Co-Op, Tower Raid, overall game health, and various technical bugs. A full list of fixes can be found in the patch notes.

Dying Light 2 is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. And keep an eye out for Dying Light: The Beast, which launches August 22.
