In her feature film directorial debut Seeds, Kaniehtiio Horn tackles what happens when social media influencing and Indigenous identity collide through a rather violent lens. It’s a perspective we haven’t really seen in the genre, or in cinema at large, so to say it’s a crucial piece of genre cinema is an understatement. Ahead of the film’s release on VOD this September, we have a new trailer for the film below!
But first, read the film’s full synopsis:
Ziggy, a social media influencer, is hired to promote a seemingly eco-friendly campaign celebrating “nature.” However, she soon uncovers a dark corporate conspiracy to exploit Indigenous knowledge, erase cultural practices, and patent ancient seeds for profit. Realizing the campaign is a sham, Ziggy finds herself hunted by corporate forces. To protect her heritage, Ziggy must reconnect with her Mohawk community, language, and ancestral lands. She rediscovers her strength, transforming from a brand ambassador into a fierce protector of her culture.
Now, watch the new trailer exclusively on Dread Central:
Horn stars in the film with Graham Greene (The Green Mile, Dances with Wolves), Patrick Garrow (RoboCop, The Silencing), Meegwun Fairbrother (SkyMed, Helix), and Dallas Goldtooth (Reservation Dogs, Fallout).
Seeds comes to digital on September 9, 2025, from Indican Pictures.
