Writer/director Adrian Langley is pivoting from the cannibals of the Butchers trilogy to the world of gothic horror in his new film, The Oval Portrait, based on Edgar Allan Poe’s 1842 short story of the same name. And the titular oval portrait is ready to consume you, body and soul.

Read the full synopsis below:

A petty thief stumbles into a mysterious antique shop, where an aspiring artist and an enigmatic shopkeeper are already drawn to an exquisite portrait. But the painting holds a deadly secret, and in this Edgar Allan Poe-inspired ghost story, a vengeful spirit threatens to consume them all.

Now check out a first look at the official trailer:

Michael Swatton (Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War), Pragya Shail (The Last Consultant), Paul Thomas (Twisted Metal), Simon Phillips (Butchers trilogy), and Louisa Capulet (My Lover, My Grave) star in the new thriller.

The Oval Portrait comes to theaters, VOD, and digital on October 10, 2025.
