EXCLUSIVE ‘Deathstalker Clip’ Reveals One Gnarly, Monstrous Battle

Writer and director Steven Kostanski is a master of puppets and practical effects. His films, from The Void to Frankie Freako, are love letters to cinema and painstakingly crafted to present countless nasty creatures, all rendered in his studio. Now, he’s tackling a Roger Corman classic with his reboot of Deathstalker, a sword-and-shield movie featuring a hero with long, luxurious locks ready to fight whatever monster stumbles into his path.

In the new fantasy horror:

The Kingdom of Abraxeon is under siege by the Dreadites, heralds of the long-dead sorcerer Nekromemnon. When Deathstalker recovers a cursed amulet from a corpse-strewn battlefield, he’s marked by dark magick and hunted by monstrous assassins. To survive, he must break the curse and face the rising evil. Death is just the beginning… of a great adventure!

Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick, The Matrix Reloaded) as the titular Deathstalker, with Patton Oswalt (Young Adult, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire) providing the voice of the benevolent wizard Doodad.

In his review of the film, Dread Central’s Matt Konopka wrote,

The Deathstalker reboot won’t be winning any best picture awards. But goddamn, does it give the audience exactly what they came for…a practical effects-driven sword and sorcery epic drenched in blood. I sure walked out with a grin slashed across my face.

Deathstalker is exclusively in theaters now from Shout! Studios.
