Following their successful summer mini-fest earlier in the year, Essex’s premiere genre festival, the Black Sunday Film Festival, returns with their annual spooky season mini-fest: BSFF Halloween. The vent takes place at Firstsite, Colchester, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, with a stellar line-up of genre offerings!
Feature Film Lineup
Proceedings commence with the UK premiere of hit comedy-horror mockumentary FOR SALE BY EXORCIST from director Melissa LaMartina and writers Chris LaMaMartina and Rob Walker (WNUF Halloween Special).
Next up, the Black Sunday team continue their support for rising UK filmmakers, with the Essex premiere of xmas serial killer thriller HE KILLS AT NIGHT from director Tom Pickering and writer James Pickering.
The festival then hosts the Essex premiere of found footage festival favourite and destined-to-be cult classic DOOBA DOOBA from filmmaker Ehrland Hollingsworth, featuring an unforgettable central performance from Betsy Sligh.
The day then comes to a close, as is tradition, with the CULT FILM SECRET SCREENING presented by Arrow Video. And as always this rare genre outing is not to be missed on the big screen!
Short Film Lineup
As well as a spinechilling line up of feature presentations, there’s also a superb selection of short films, including found footage chiller EXHIBIT B from writer/director David Gregory, stunning animation offering THE WEDDING VEIL OF THE PROUD PRINCESS from filmmaker Anna-Ester Volozh, festival hit GRANDMA IS THIRSTY from writer/director Kris Carr and xmas horror-comedy SANTA’S LITTLE HELPER from writer/director Lucy Foster.
And if that wasn’t enough, following the fest the team will host an afterparty/networking event at a local venue for all attending guests and filmmakers.
