‘Saint Drogo’: Monster Makeup’s Queer Folk Horror Is Available Now on Blu-ray

Saint Drogo

Monster Makeup, LLC—the unapologetically queer, Providence-based independent entertainment company behind Death Drop Gorgeous—is thrilled to announce the self-distribution and release of their second feature film, Saint Drogo (2023), now available on Blu-ray!

Filmed on location in Provincetown, Massachusetts, Saint Drogo is a chilling neo-noir horror about identity, addiction, and the price of conformity. In the bleak, off-season shadows of P-Town, a couple’s stagnant relationship takes a dark turn when one partner becomes obsessed with finding a vanished ex, spiraling into a hallucinatory nightmare.

The Saint Drogo Blu-ray is loaded with exclusive content and collectible extras, including:

  • Original artwork by Fernando Prudencio and Chris Dalpe
  • Signed insert with autographs from the entire Monster Makeup team
  • Monster Makeup sticker
  • Director’s commentary
  • Interviews with Saint Drogo SFX artist Joe Castro (Terror Toons, The Summer of Massacre) and some of horror’s most iconic creators, including: Chris and Melissa LaMartina (For Sale by Exorcist, The WNUF Halloween Special), Peaches Christ (All About Evil), Michael Varrati (There’s a Zombie Outside, Midnight Mass Podcast), Dutch Marich (Horror in the High Desert series), Toby Poser and John Adams (Hellbender, Where the Devil Roams), Robbie Banfitch (The Outwaters), Troy Escamilla (Teacher Shortage), Roger Conners (MEAT the Movie), Tyler Jensen & Roman Chimienti (Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street), and Sean Abley (Socket, Queer Horror: A Film Guide).

“We’ve always believed in making nightmares come true,” says co-director Michael Ahern. “Saint Drogo is personal, it’s queer, it’s grotesque, and we’re proud to bring it directly to our audience without compromise.”

In our review of the film, Dread Central’s R.C. Jara wrote,

With all the erroneous discourse about violence and sex in film these days, it feels good when filmmakers understand the need for both as a means of expression. Saint Drogo stirs eroticism, self-harm, and bleak surrealist imagery inside one big cauldron. And the horror world is better off for it. With a breezy, sub-80-minute runtime, a viewer could potentially sit through the film twice and soak in its bountiful offerings. I don’t so much recommend doing that. I beseech it.

Saint Drogo is available now on Monster Makeup’s website.
