Actor Matthew Lillard made waves this weekend after expressing his opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a special outdoor screening of Wes Craven’s Scream at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, hosted by Cinespia.

According to Variety, while addressing the crowd, Lillard urged compassion and community in his remarks before punctuating his message with a clear statement:

“F*** ICE,” he said. “In this time, in this city, we need to lead with love. Do not forget that s*** in this moment. Not to be political, but to be political as s***.”

Lillard’s comments drew applause from attendees and quickly spread online, where fans praised his outspokenness. The Scream and Scooby-Doo star joins a growing number of Hollywood figures who have publicly criticized ICE policies and practices in recent years.

Actors including Mark Ruffalo and Jamie Lee Curtis have previously spoken out on the issue, calling for accountability and compassion in U.S. immigration enforcement. Ruffalo described ICE as “stamping their boots on your right to a fair trial,” while Curtis reposted videos of alleged abuses with the caption “why?”

Lillard’s comments highlight how political and social consciousness continues to intersect with Hollywood’s horror icons. Decades after first playing Scream’s infamous killer, the actor remains vocal about the real-world horrors he believes deserve equal attention.
