Hey, campers. Dread Central exclusively learns today that Jason Voorhees will reportedly appear not only as a child, but also as a teenager in the upcoming A24/Peacock Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake.

The series has already confirmed the presence of Jason as a child, with Callum Vinson cast as a young Jason Voorhees. But according to our very reliable sources, the show will also depict Jason at a later stage of his life, expanding his story beyond childhood.

How prominently the teenage version of Jason appears, or whether multiple actors portray the character at different ages, has not been confirmed. But it does mean Jason will have the upper body strength to at least pick up a machete. And that’s gotta count for something, right?

The Crystal Lake series is said to serve as an expanded prequel to the 1980 Friday the 13th film by revisiting the cursed town and characters tied to the franchise’s origins.

The brand-new show stars Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees and includes earlier versions of characters from the original film, such as Crazy Ralph, Claudette, and Barry, along with new characters connected to the town’s history.

Crystal Lake is overseen by showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, who serves as writer and executive producer. Kane has also worked on the hit HBO prequel series It: Welcome to Derry, which is already eyeing future seasons after providing horror fans with numerous water-cooler moments in 2025.

Produced by A24 for Peacock, Crystal Lake recently wrapped filming and is expected to premiere in 2026. Dread Central will continue to report as more details are confirmed.
