‘The Mortuary Assistant’: Shudder Reveals First Look at DreadXP Adaptation in Anniversary Video

Shudder marked its 10th anniversary on Wednesday with the release of a celebratory video highlighting the filmmakers and performers who have shaped the streamer’s horror identity over the past decade. The video also includes brief first-look footage from several upcoming Shudder originals slated for release in 2026.

Titles teased in the anniversary reel include The Mortuary Assistant, The Crazy Old Lady, Mother of Flies, Bodycam, Honey Bunch, Night Patrol, and Whistle, with additional projects expected to be revealed in the coming months.

Among the standout announcements is The Mortuary Assistant, a feature adaptation of the acclaimed horror video game released by DreadXP. Directed by Slapface filmmaker Jeremiah Kipp, the film follows Rebecca Owens, a newly hired mortician whose first overnight shift at River Fields Mortuary becomes a descent into terror.

As supernatural events intensify and malignant forces attach themselves to her, Rebecca must confront both the horrors of the mortuary and the unresolved trauma she carries with her—all in a fight to survive the night.

The anniversary video is now available to watch, offering an early look at Shudder’s next wave of original horror as the platform enters its second decade.
