Vinegar Syndrome Brings 1996’s ‘Freeway’ to 4K Ultra HD With Two Minutes of Additional Violence!

One of the company’s secret releases for their big Black Friday sale, Vinegar Syndrome has just given 1996’s Freeway a 4K Ultra HD upgrade and it’s packed with fresh new material.

The modern take on Little Red Riding Hood was directed by Matthew Bright, with Reese Witherspoon as Little Red Riding Hood and Kiefer Sutherland as the Big Bad Wolf.

Vinegar Syndrome writes, “Among the most notorious and jaw dropping “mainstream” movies of the 90s, Freeway has earned a reputation as a neo-exploitation classic and critically acclaimed indie thriller thanks to its unhinged violence, sharply written dialogue, and general non-stop barrage on good taste, all wrapped up as one truly twisted fairytale.

Starring Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde, Wild) alongside film and TV superstar Kiefer Sutherland (The Lost Boys), and co-starring Emmy nominee Bokeem Woodbine (Dead Presidents), along with acclaimed character actors Wolfgang Bodison (A Few Good Men), and Dan Hedaya (The Usual Suspects), plus a special appearance from Brooke Shields (Pretty Baby), Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to present the worldwide UHD and BD debut of Freeway, newly restored in 4K from its long lost 35mm original camera negative and presented fully uncut with two minutes of additional violence and dialogue deemed too extreme for its original run!

In the film, “Vanessa Lutz’ life is a mess. Her mother, a prostitute, and father, an abusive drunk, have been hauled off to jail. With nowhere to live, Vanessa has no choice but to move in with her grandmother. Hitting the road to granny’s house, she quickly encounters the silver-tongued Bob Wolverton, who offers to give her a lift. However, what Vanessa doesn’t realize is that Bob is the notorious I-5 Killer; a vicious murderer who preys on young, female hitchhikers, and soon finds herself face-to-face with a real “Big Bad Wolf.” Using all her wits, she sets in motion a cunning trap which all comes to a grisly head in this modern take on Little Red Riding Hood.”

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
