Sure, we all know about Bambi, but what about his trusty sidekick, Thumper, a rabbit with a great attitude and a fast-moving left foot? A hero is nothing without his sidekick, and the same can be said for villains, especially in Bambi: The Reckoning, the latest entry in the Twisted Childhood Universe. This mutant version of the iconic deer has its own sidekick, which you can get a glimpse of in our exclusive clip below!
In the new film, “After a mother and son get in a car wreck, they soon become hunted by Bambi, a mutated, grief-stricken deer on a deadly rampage seeking revenge for the death of his mother.“

In her review of the film, Dread Central’s Meredith J. Brown references this very scene, writing,
“The ferocity is unimaginable, as we feel their fear throughout Bambi’s persistent rampage. During the escape, we encounter various obstacles separating the survivors, in addition to newcomers from the favorable fairytale, such as Thumper. However, something is just not right with this once adorable critter, and suddenly, I was thrown into a Monty Python-esque scene of killer rabbit havoc. It was unique and clever, plus it made me chuckle, even though I’m sure that was unintentional.“
Dan Allen directs Bambi: The Reckoning from a script written by Rhys Warrington. Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Chambers (Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 1 & 2) produced the film, with Stuart Alson and Nicole Holland serving as executive producers. This film follows quickly on the heels of previous Twisted Childhood Universe films, Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 1 & 2 and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare.
Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones), Nicola Wright (Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2), Russell Geoffrey Banks (Who’s Watching Oliver), Tom Mulheron (Slow Horses), and Samira Mighty (Love Island) star in the new horror film.
Bambi: The Reckoning comes exclusively to theaters on July 25, 2025, from Jagged Edge Productions, ITN Distribution, and Seismic Releasing.
