EXCLUSIVE: Netflix Shares First-Look Images of ‘Circles’, Sequel to the 2015 Cult Hit

circles

Nearly a decade after the release of its cult hit Circle, Netflix recently announced that a sequel, simply titled Circles, was in the works. They also announced the members of the main cast, including Carmen Flood (Long Slow Exhale), Michael Nardelli (American Crime Story), Cameron Mann (Eddington), and Mareau Hall (Babygirl). Now, we’re excited to share some first-look images from the upcoming film featuring the stellar new cast.

Details about the sequel are being kept under wraps, but so far, we know that the synopsis simply reads, “18 years after being pawns in a cruel game of psychological warfare, the survivors of an invasion face a new threat.

Check out our exclusive first-look images below!

Dutch filmmaker Niels Bourgonje, best known for the horror short film Swipe, directs from a script by Devon Graye (I See You).

Michael Nardelli and Brent Stiefel (Tow), who were behind the original film, have re-teamed to produce alongside Executive Producers Jeffrey Leaf (Bob Trevino Likes It), Justin Bursh (Circle), Tim Nardelli (Circle), and Justin Lothrop (Tow). Original writer/directors Mario Miscione and Aaron Hann are also co-producing.

Nardelli said about the upcoming sequel,

“It’s so exciting and surreal to be back in production ten years later on another CIRCLE movie with some old friends and new faces in tow. We worked really hard to create something that is fresh and accessible to new audiences, but still keeps with the DNA of the first film and has fun surprises for our OG fans, who we are so grateful for and got us this far. Our new cast members are going to break everyone’s hearts and make you feel all the feels. We can’t wait for everyone to meet them and see this next story come to life on screen.

Flood, Nardelli, Mann, and Hall star in the film with Luca Padovan (You), Maia Jae (Gen V), Corrado Martini (Collapser), Isaiah Dodo-Williams (Public Defenders), Laila Drew (Broadway’s Suffs), Scout Tayui-Lepore (The Studio), and Sophia Tayui-Lepore (The Studio).

Character details are under wraps, but production began last month in Buffalo, NY, nearly a decade after the 12 Angry Men-inspired original became a cult hit. In the original film, a group of 50 strangers wakes up to the realization that every two minutes, or if they try to leave, one of them will be killed. They soon discover that they can choose who will die, and from there, things get rather complicated. If you’re interested in catching up on before Circles, Circle is streaming now on Netflix.

Keep an eye on Dread Central for more news about Circles as we have it.
