‘It Came from Outer Space’ Actress Kathleen Hughes Has Passed Away

Kathleen Hughes, known for her role in the 1953 cult classic It Came from Outer Space, passed away Monday night. She was 96.

She played Jane, girlfriend to Russell Johnson’s George, in the sci-fi horror film about an alien invasion from Creature from the Black Lagoon director Jack Arnold.

Hughes famously posed while screaming in a publicity photo for the movie (pictured above), which was later repurposed for a variety of advertising.

The actress’ other genre credits include Cult of the Cobra, The Spell, and two episodes of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents.”

She also made guest appearances on the likes of “M*A*S*H,” “I Dream of Jeannie,” “Perry Mason,” and “Mission: Impossible.”

Hughes’ close friend John Jigen Griffin-Atil confirmed the news on Facebook.
