Social media is a great place to find connection, but it also has a dark side. People use platforms like Instagram and TikTok to create unrealistic online identities that make their lives appear eerily perfect from the outside. Kurtis David Harder’s 2023 horror film Influencer takes a look at that problematic tendency and pairs it with violent consequences. The film was a hit for Shudder, which opened the door for a follow-up installment. The next chapter, dubbed Influencers, is poised to bow on the streamer December 12th.

With the release date drawing near, we have a trailer for the sequel to share with you. Judging by the preview, which you can check out in the player below, it looks like this next chapter will hit the ground running. Where the first installment takes its time establishing its characters before descending into complete chaos, the sequel seems to get straight to the action.

While Influencer takes place in Thailand, this time around, writer/director Kurtis David Harder relocates the action to southern France. The proceedings once again catch up with the vengeful and calculating CW (Cassandra Naud), a woman with a history of killing to get what she wants. In this incarnation, she crosses paths with social media influencer Charlotte (Georgina Campbell of Barbarian). Matters quickly take a violent turn, leading to a series of complications for CW.

While you’ll have to wait another month to see the film for yourself, you can read our review of the upcoming sequel right now. Former Dread Central Editor-in-Chief Mary Beth McAndrews dubbed the film “ a perfect horror sequel” when she covered the picture out of Fantasia.
