The more we see of Wales Interactive’s Maid of Sker, the more we cannot wait to get our hands on it. The latest morsel we’ve been fed of this first-person horror game based on Welsh folklore comes from the Future Games Show, where we got a brief look at it in action, with an explanation of how audio drives the terror you’ll face whilst roaming the halls of a 19th Century hotel.
Maid of Sker employs a 3D audio-based AI system that allows the foul beasts that hunt you to pinpoint every tension-filled creak of a floorboard, and in this trailer, you see that up close as the protagonist has to hold their breath while a seemingly blind fiend tries to seek them out.
You’ll be able to hold your breath when Maid of Sker arrives on PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in July, with the Nintendo Switch version coming later.
