Puppet Combo Dives Into Classic Point-And-Click Horror With ‘The Enigma of Salazar House’

Puppet Combo are back once again with another retro-inspired horror game, this time of the classic point-and-click adventure game variety. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Puppet Combo game without some throwback to old-school gaming consoles. And in this case, it’s the red and black graphics of the Virtual Boy, mixed with slightly higher tech rotocoped cutscenes.

The game in question is The Enigma of Salazar House, which is set to release later this week on itch.io. The debut game from Chilean developer Ignacio Maldonado, The Enigma of Salazar House centres on Elisa, a young reporter who is sent to investigate the abandoned mansion of renowned author, Jaime Salazar. Salazar disappeared along with his entire family in 1986, and Elisa sets out to find the truth of what happened. And wouldn’t you know it, she gets more than she bargained for when she realizes the house of Salazar may not be totally abandoned…

The Enigma of Salazar House will be published by Puppet Combo on their new publishing label, Torture Star Video. TSV will focus on retro-styled horror from small developers and outsider artists. Torture Star intends to release high quality, story-based, movie length games that can be completed in one or two sittings.

The Enigma of Salazar House will be released this Friday (June 19th) for $3.95. You can grab it on Torture Star’s itch.io page once it goes live.
