‘Castlevania’ Returns in Chinese Mobile Game ‘Moonnight Rhapsody’

Oh, Konami. You are indeed in a bit of a quandry.

Not long after cancelling Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, their mobile Castlevania game that was literally online for a year, they’re apparently back at it again with a Chinese mobile game that upon first glance, looks like a knock-off. Teaming up with Chinese mobile game company Shengqu Games, the game Moonnight Rhapsody uses music and sound ripped straight from Symphony of The Night.

The story for the game, which was originally named “Code: C”, has you playing as Ives, a member of the Demon Hunter Guild. Ives, alongside allies Leah the magician, and siblings Fidel and Flori, received a guild mission to enter the Dracula’s castle. You can guess what they have to do.

Not much has been revealed about the game, other than a playthrough video (where you can see why people thought this was a knock-off). It might be a Chinese-only title, but given how the franchise has been treated over the past few years, it’s probably for the best. You can check out the announcement here, if you’re curious.
