Fatshark Remains Committed to ‘Vermintide 2’, Despite Newly-Announced ‘Darktide’

Admittedly, some fans were a little concerned when Fatshark announced Warhammer 40,000: Darktide last week during the Xbox Games Showcase. After all, Fatshark are still working through Vermintide 2, and from the announcement, it would seem that any future plans would be held in Darktide. Not to worry, according to the developers.

In a letter to the community, Fatshark reaffirms their commitment to Vermintide 2, along with its upcoming expansion in the Chaos Wastes:

“With the announcement of Darktide, we understand that you might have a lot of questions—mostly surrounding our commitment to Vermintide 2. The answer is simple: We remain committed to Vermintide 2. We are looking forward to the continuous development of Vermintide 2, and the next major DLC update coming is Warhammer: Vermintide 2 – Chaos Wastes. We are also already working on the next career following the positive reception of the Grail Knight… and of course, so much more that we are not ready to announce.”

It’s worth mentioning that with Darktide, Fatshark is trying to maintain distance from Vermintide 2 in both gameplay and characters. After all, Darktide is using the Warhammer 40K license.

Darktide doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can expect it for PC and Xbox Series X sometime next year. Meanwhile, Chaos Wastes is expected to release this winter.
