4 Horror Movies You’ve Probably Never Even Seen Before
A list of four flicks that span the decades, but will satisfy your thirst for blood and gore this Halloween.
In the age of binge watching and “Netflix and Chill” there is more to watch than ever before so you might as well refer to this blog post to get a clue on what’s worth perusing in the horror genre. There’s still time to be prepared to be scared this Halloween with our sampling below for sure!
Return of the Living Dead III (1993)
This movie combines the two most important plot points to any Zombie film; 1) Government/Military 2) Teenagers. Actress Mindy Clarke plays Julie who is dating a teen with a motorcycle, who’s dad just happens to work down at the local military complex where they are conducting experiments on Zombies, but the maximum security doesn’t last long as you can figure out. The most interesting part of this movie is the idea of having a romantic relationship with a zombie. They also cover the subject of body modification to an extreme, which ups the kinky and creepy factor in ways you were not predicting. This movie has all the elements you need to make you think f’d up thoughts after and keep you from getting a good night’s sleep.
Let the Right One In (2008)
If you think you’ve seen it all when it comes to Dracula movies maybe you should check out this surprisingly original vampire flick. A little girl and her foster father move into a new apartment. She makes friends with a boy neighbor and eventually he learns about this little girl’s “abilities.” Set in a Swedish suburb that’s experiencing a cold winter, you’ll see one unexpected turn after the other as this story unfolds. Plus, blood stains on white snow aren’t the only special effects you’ll see. Ever poured acid on your own face? Yeah, that happens. “Let Me In” is the remake of this awesome movie if you don’t like to read foreign subtitles.
Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter (1974)
Captain Kronos is a vampire slayer played by Horst Janson resembling a handsome Clint Eastwood spaghetti-western-type-hero in this action packed film from 1974. This Hammer Production is like all the rest, set in a rural village from a medieval time. Hammer Film Productions are well-known for their starring ladies and Caroline Munro plays the part in this one. There’s a few scenes that make you have “a think.” For example, the movie plays up the theme of “the fountain of youth” when it comes to why there’s a vampire on the lose. There’s no garlic in this movie, but the use of bullfrogs comes in handy instead. If you like vampire action this Hammer Production “brings it” in a surprisingly satisfying way.
Bloodsucking Bastards (2015)
Thinks “Workaholics” meets vampires. This movie was written by Dr. God a comedy troop out of LA and boy are these fellas funny! You can’t really go wrong if you want a LOL (laugh out loud) time with this flick. You can expect a lot of fake blood and horror innuendo in this film just for the gag, but if you appreciate talented funny men like Sean Cowhig, Neil Garguilo, Brian James O’Connell, David Park, and Justin Ware, you won’t regret pulling this one up on Alexa with your Amazon Prime.
Now, enjoy the flicks!
We know there’s a ton more out there to get your horror on, but at least you have a couple to get you started. Bring on the popcorn and the candy corn while you confidently go in the direction of being scared this year with these cray movies for both young and old.
