Part of the appeal of Diablo II all these years later is the modding community, which has kept the game going for fans. The latest mod takes the game’s dungeon-crawling and turns it into a Roguelike boss rush with modder Mayor Gilneas’ Leoric’s Castle.
Set between the original Diablo and the sequel, Leoric’s Castle features bosses from both games, and is an exercise in endurance against the AI and other players. Playable in free-for-all, duos, or in teams of four, rival players hack their way through the dungeons, building up characters with gear purchased at shops, all the while fending off monsters and rival adventurers.
Speaking on Reddit, Mayor Gilneas states that the mod is designed to be part speedrun and part PvP. Everyone is welcome, however. Plus, it’ll tide us over until Diablo IV gets that release date.
Cheers to PCGamesN for this one.
