Even with Kenny Ortega’s 1993 classic Hocus Pocus airing on Freeform all month long as part of their annual “31 Nights of Halloween,” the family-friendly Halloween movie is incredibly at the #2 spot at the domestic box office nearly 30 years after its original release!
According to a Deadline report, Hocus Pocus was right behind Christopher Nolan’s Tenet on the weekend charts, the re-released Disney film making $1.925 million in 2,570 theaters.
Tenet, in its sixth week of release, pulled in $2.7 million over the weekend.
Also on the box office charts for the weekend? Tim Burton’s 1988 film Beetlejuice, which scared up $300,000 in just 346 theaters and came in at seventh place on the charts.
Brandon Cronenberg’s brand new movie Possessor, meanwhile, pulled in $227,500 in 320 theaters. The film, in its first week of theatrical release, is currently in the #9 slot.
The New Mutants made another $1 million this weekend, now $20.9 million total.
