Scott Cawthon Updates on ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ Movie; “Filming Starts in Spring”

As we’ve reported a few times over the years, Blumhouse and Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon have been developing a film adaptation of the games, with various updates coming along every so often. The most recent update came this past summer, with producer Jason Blum noting that the project was moving “rapidly forward” at the time.

So what’s the latest on all of that? Well, Cawthon himself took to Reddit this weekend to provide a little update on the Five Nights movie, which will apparently begin filming soon!

Filming starts in Spring!!!” Cawthon revealed, while also noting that the current screenplay has “the best pieces from all the previous screenplays” – of which there have been many.

“All the right characters, all the right motivations, all the right stakes,” he describes the screenplay they’re going with. “It’s fun, it’s scary, and it has a great central story!

Over on Reddit, Cawthon also dug a little bit into each of those previous screenplays that were ultimately tossed out, including one that was far too loosely based on the games, another that would’ve taken the characters into Manhattan, one packed with lore from multiple games, and one concept he describes as “too much after-school adventure, not enough horror.”

Check out Cawthon’s post over on Reddit for more details on those unused screenplays!

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
