Microsoft Kicks Off January’s Games With Gold With ‘Little Nightmares’ and ‘Dead Rising’

Genre fans have another winner next month with Xbox’s January 2021 Games with Gold lineup. It reads more like a wedding prep, really: something modern, something (sort of) classic, and something of a cult following.

For starters, Tarsier Studios’ Little Nightmares is available for the entire month, which should get you prepped for the sequel arriving next year. Then there’s Capcom’s Dead Rising, which is available from January 16 to February 15. Even if you get annoyed at Otis calling you every five minutes, it’s still a blast to play to this very day. It fares far better than the most recent (and for the moment, last) outing in Dead Rising 4.

And then there’s Breakdown, an original Xbox exclusive title that’s available from January 16 to 31. Namco’s first-person sci-fi action game probably didn’t get enough attention as it should have for its storytelling and unique (and at times, awkward) take on first-person combat. At the very least, the game deserved a sequel. You’ll at least now have a chance to check it out yourself.

Also available next month is another entry in SNK’s legendary King of Fighter series in The King of Fighters XIII.
