Billed as “The world’s first horror attraction dedicated to author Mary Shelley and her most famous creation,” we’ve learned that Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein is opening in Bath, Somerset, England this coming Spring. The attraction will cover the life and career of Mary Shelley, while of course also exploring the enduring legacy of Frankenstein.
The attraction was conceived by writer and video producer Chris Harris (Co-Founder & Director), developed by Harris along with Jonathan Willis (Co-Founder & Director), Vicki Smith (Commercial Operations Director) and Adam Leon (Commercial Advisor & Investor Liaison).
The official website details, “The project is further supported by a large team of freelance theatrical professionals including electronics and AV specialists, set builders and carpenters, scenic painters and décor artists, props and model makers, set dressers, designers and graphic artists. Additionally we will be contracting one of Europe’s leading prosthetics, animatronics and SFX makers to create bespoke exhibits as flagship centrepieces for the attraction.”
“The aim is to deliver an unnervingly thrilling, visceral, and entertaining attraction which reveals the tragic events and circumstances that inspired Mary Shelley to write her novel at just 19 years of age.”
“The atmosphere within and throughout the building, whichever exhibit or themed room the visitor is experiencing, will evoke a feeling of excitement and dread, albeit always in a thrilling and imaginative way, and will be fully immersive and multi-sensory. We will achieve this by the use of ominous ambient music, eerie soundscapes, temperature control, aromas, jumps, shocks, flickering lights and blackouts, video projections, strategic use of fog and wind machines, illusions and live performers. There will also be a themed function space for hire and a themed team building/ corporate events escape room. The escape room will be available for hire to both parties of friends and corporate groups. Participants will have to figure out a series of puzzles to escape before the mad scientist awakens.”
Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein will be situated at 37 Gay Street, Bath.
