While Quibi didn’t make a lick of sense, and the content itself wasn’t ever developed to work in harmony with the “mobile-only” platform, some of the shows were actually pretty damn good.
Quibi failed and because of this, it’s safe to assume a lot of you missed out on some of their original horror programmings.
After recent talks, Deadline confirms today that Roku has bought exclusive global distribution rights to the entire Quibi portfolio.
Here’s the kicker, while Quibi was charging an arm and a leg (and still showing you ads), the programming will be available for free starting later this year on the Roku Channel (where Bloody Disgusting’s streaming service is also housed).
What can horror fans look forward to seeing?
Quibi’s “50 States of Fright”, from producer and director Sam Raimi, was one of the best new horror series of last year.
Outside of the anthology series, Quibi gave birth to “The Expecting”, a pregnancy thriller directed by American Psycho‘s Mary Harron, and The Hitcher-inspired Maika Monroe/Dane DeHaan-starring “The Stranger”, among several other genre adjacent thrillers.
This is exciting news as there was fear that some of this content would be lost forever.
