“Godzilla Singular Point”: First Look at the New Godzilla Design from Studio Ghibli Animator Eiji Yamamori

The King of the Monsters is soon making his way to Netflix with Toho’s anime series “Godzilla Singular Point,” which features character designs by Blue Exorcist’s Kazue Kato and a brand new Godzilla design from legendary Ghibli animator Eiji Yamamori. That Godzilla design has been officially shown off by Toho today, and you’ll find the Big G’s new look below.

Yamamori (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away) said in a statement this week that he wanted to “keep in mind the original design motif and give it dignity as an awe-inspiring creature that can never communicate with humankind.” His intention with the new design was to also “integrate the image of the early Showa Godzilla, yet see a new first appearance.”

“Singular Point” is coming to Netflix globally this year.

“When danger comes up from the depths, only young geniuses Mei, Yun, and their team can face the threat.”

Atsushi Takahashi is directing “Singular Point.”

Anime studio bones (My Hero Academia) in partnership with studio Orange (Beastars, Land of the Lustrous) will produce the series combining hand-drawn and CG animation styles.
