Left 4 Dead fans awaiting the series’ spiritual successor in Back 4 Blood have made their own fun over the weekend. Over on the fan wiki, someone on Friday decided to update the established four characters from the first game with a mysterious “fifth” character. The result has fans going nuts.
It turns out that Francis has a long-lost forgotten twin. He’s identical to Francis in every way, save for sporting a strong purple hue and a having a history as a root beer entrepreneur. And it wasn’t just a simple vandalizing job, either. As noted by users, the pranksters added quite a bit of lore for Purple Francis.

The pranksters have already outed themselves on Twitter, though sadly, their edits have already been reverted by the mods. Still, Purple Francis lives on in a Left 4 Dead 2 mod that you can download through Steam Workshop, which is already one of the most popular mods you can download.
Meanwhile, Back 4 Blood (which has Barbara Crampton as part of the voice cast) is currently in development for PC, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, with a June 22, 2021 release.
