Legendary Challenge Returns in Third Developer Diary For ‘Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection’

Capcom producer Peter Fabiano returns in the third developer diary for the upcoming Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection, this time delving into the series’ famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) difficulty, which returns in this new entry.

As was previously touched upon, Resurrection does have more than the standard difficulty this time around, which will make newcomers (and some veterans) breathe a little easier. “This franchise is known for its extreme difficulty, but it’s very, very satisfying and challenging in a good way,” explains Fabiano.

In order to recreate that balance, Capcom is offering up three difficulty settings: Squire, Knight, and Legend. The three levels change up the amount of hits Arthur can take before being reduced to his boxers, as well as varying the quantity of enemies. “There are also little things that we’ve adjusted here and there to really give you a feel of the different range between the difficulties themselves. I think most people will want to play it at Knight to get that Ghosts ‘n Goblins experience, but if you really want to challenge yourself and up the ante, take way less hits, then I would suggest you try out Legend mode.”

And, for series newcomers, there’s Page mode, which is “a really accessible mode that people can get into and play, but it’s not going to give you that distinct, real challenge that we wanted to create with the Ghosts ‘n Goblins franchise”.

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is due out for Switch via the Nintendo eShop on February 25.
