Rare Treasures Will Be Unearthed from the George A. Romero Archival Collection on February 9th

Horror fans are invited to take part in a special virtual event paying tribute to the late horror master George A. Romero on Tuesday, February 9th at 7pm EST, with the University of Pittsburgh Libraries announcing this week that they’ll be unveiling some of the most amazing, revelatory materials in their George A. Romero Archival Collection in a virtual discussion.

The archives were acquired by the University of Pittsburgh Libraries back in 2019, and this event will be the first glimpse that fans, critics, and scholars have been provided with.

The press release promises a look at “scripts, treatments, production documents, photos, videos, and more that will change how we see the filmmaker behind Night of the Living Dead.”

“Fans will hear about early versions of familiar classics like Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead, scores of unmade projects like War of the Worlds, Before I Wake, Whine of the Faun, and Unholy Fire, collaborations with Stephen King from Creepshow to The Stand and Pet Sematary to The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, unseen photos from behind the scenes of Night of the Living Dead, shooting scripts used on set with Romero’s own handwritten notes and revisions, and much, much more.”

“Learn the inner workings of George Romero’s creative process and life as a horror filmmaker with Horror Studies Coordinator Ben Rubin and Visiting Researcher Adam Hart.”

The event is free and open to horror fans everywhere. Just make sure to register ASAP!

For a sneak peek at some of the materials in the collection, visit: https://horrorstudies.library.pitt.edu/. On the site at the time of this writing you’ll find early looks at Romero movies Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, and Martin, with more coming soon.

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
