[R.I.P.] Oscar-Winning Acting Legend Christopher Plummer Has Passed Away

Another true legend in the field of acting has left us, with the sad news coming out today that Christopher Plummer has passed away at the age of 91 at his home in Connecticut.

With a career spanning multiple decades and including over 200 credits, Christopher Plummer notably won the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role award for his work in the 2010 film Beginners, and he was also nominated for his work in 2009’s The Last Station and 2017’s All the Money in the World. The latter performance is of particular note, as Plummer was brought in as a last-minute replacement for Kevin Spacey, after all his scenes had already been filmed. At age 88, Plummer became the oldest Academy Award nominee for acting.

Christopher Plummer is of course known for his work in countless other films, including The Sound of Music, Waterloo, The Return of the Pink Panther, Murder by Decree, An American Tail, Star Trek IV, Malcolm X, 12 Monkeys, The Insider, A Beautiful Mind, National Treasure, Alexander, Inside Man, Up, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and Knives Out.

Here in the world of horror, Plummer’s credits include The Spiral Staircase, Dreamscape, Vampire in Venice, Wolf, Dolores Claiborne, The Clown at Midnight, Dracula 2000, and Priest. Plummer more recently played Dr. Jeffrey West in the animated movies Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom and Howard Lovecraft and the Undersea Kingdom.

Plummer is survived by wife Elaine Taylor, and daughter Amanda Plummer.
