This Week’s “WandaVision” Is a Full-Blown Sitcom Halloween Special

If you’ve been looking for a reason to tune into Disney+’s “WandaVision”, this week’s episode has plenty of tricks and treats.

For those not keeping up, the newest Marvel series (spoilers) takes place after the events in Avengers: Endgame – firmly tying it directly to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and locks Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) in a sitcom-themed prison.

Each episode works its way through a different era of television with the latest one offering up a tribute to the early 2000s with a full-blown “Malcolm in the Middle” spoof, alternative ska music and all.

While the parody has been pretty spot-on, it’s been missing a little something-something… a holiday-themed special, a sitcom staple! This week’s episode was the icing on the pumpkin cake, bringing the spooky fun of Halloween night to Westview.

“All-New Halloween Spooktacular!”, the sixth episode of “WandaVision”, dresses the town of Westview up for the holiday, and fits Wanda, Vision, and Pietro (Evan Peters) in their classic Marvel costumes, as teased in earlier trailers. While the town goes door-to-door trick-or-treating, the episode is brimming with metaphors that deal with everything from skeletons in Wanda’s closet to Vision’s death, and even Wanda’s inability to face reality. Even the Halloween setting perfectly juxtaposes the town’s faux façade.

Here’s a taste of the latest episode, now streaming on Disney+.
