First Official Shot From M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Old’ Gets Sappy

One of this year’s big Super Bowl spots to drop was the first look at M. Night Shyamalan‘s latest thriller, Old, in which a family rapidly ages on a mysterious beach. (Watch the teaser here.)

“This summer, Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly … reducing their entire lives into a single day.”

While the footage already dropped, today we finally have the first official still, a sappy and sentimental look at the aforementioned family: (from left) Prisca (Vicky Krieps), Maddox (Thomasin McKenzie), Guy (Gael García Bernal) and Trent (Luca Faustino Rodriguez).

Shyamalan’s career has been on the “return to form” path for the past several years, returning to the horror genre back in 2015 with The Visit and going on to make a surprise sequel to Unbreakable with Split in 2016; which was of course followed by true sequel Glass in 2019, noted John Squires.

The film’s current theatrical date is July 23, 2021.

Here’s the trailer, if you haven’t seen it…
