NECA Celebrates Kurt Russell’s Birthday By Showing Off Upcoming ‘The Thing’ Action Figure!

In celebration of Kurt Russell‘s birthday today, NECA made the HUGE reveal that an “Ultimate” action figure of Russell’s character from The Thing is releasing this coming Summer.

Years back, SOTA Toys had added John Carpenter’s The Thing to their “Now Playing” line with a box set featuring MacReady and the film’s dog-monster, but we’ve been waiting a long time for a new figure of MacReady. And who better to bring us just that than NECA, who have really gone all-out with this one to make sure it truly is the “Ultimate” figure of the character.

NECA’s R.J. MacReady action figure will include THREE interchangeable heads, hat, goggles, glasses, bottle, lantern, shotgun, and more. Preview the upcoming figure below!

On the figure front, McFarlane Toys also made figures from The Thing as part of their “Movie Maniacs” line, but they only got around to making “Norris Creature” and “Blair Monster.”

Toys based on the movie have been announced by other companies more recently, but they were unfortunately cancelled. Needless to say, it’s a big deal that NECA now has the license.
