It was 30 years ago that Kevin Bacon and Michael Gross co-starred as Valentine McKee and Burt Gummer in the creature feature Tremors, with Gross subsequently leading the franchise for multiple installments and Bacon of course going on to have an incredible career in Hollywood that hasn’t yet seen him return to the franchise – despite his best efforts, that is.
Will Valentine and Burt ever reunite on the screen? Well it has technically already happened, with wireless service provider Visible debuting a new commercial during the Grammys last night that brings Bacon and Gross back together for a fun little tribute to Tremors!
Upgrading to “12 Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” the commercial sees Bacon bringing everyone around him over to Visible, including his co-star “from that cult ’90s film about sandworms.”
“Tremors,” Gross chimes in, sitting next to Bacon in a familiar-looking desert.
Gross wrote on Facebook, “Our reunion was warm, light-hearted and candid.” He added, “Today a commercial, tomorrow a Tremors sequel? Hey, stranger things have happened!”
Visible explains the “12 Degrees of Kevin Bacon” campaign, “You can get a month of $5 wireless service every month you bring a friend to Visible. 12 friends, 12 $5 months!”
