Neill Blomkamp (District 9) is back this year with new supernatural horror movie Demonic, recently acquired by IFC Midnight and currently set for release on August 20, 2021.
Today, Blomkamp has taken to Twitter to share some grainy, retro-style Super 8mm behind-the-scenes footage, which reminds of the haunting “found footage” bits from Scott Derrickson’s Sinister. There’s not all that much to see here and it’s hard to know if the 8mm style is suggestive of the film’s tone in any way, but it’s a first look so we’ll take it for now.

Neill Blomkamp, Mike Blomkamp of STABILITi Studios, Stuart Ford and Linda McDonough of AGC Studios are on board as producers. Serving as executive producers are AGC’s Miguel Palos Jr., Alastair Burlingham, Charlie Dombek, Viktor Muller, and Steven St. Arnaud.
