Capcom Accused by ‘Frankenstein’s Army’ Director of Copying Monster Designs For ‘Resident Evil Village’

It seems not everyone is happy with Resident Evil Village, as in the case of Richard Raaphorst. Raaphorst is putting forward accusations of plagiarism towards Capcom over a specific monster design that looks very similar to a monster that was used in Rapphorst’s 2013 film Frankenstein’s Army.

Raaphorst took to Twitter and LinkedIn to voice his view that Capcom lifted his design of one of the creatures found in the film “completely without authorization or credit”.

MILD SPOILER ALERT: The creature in question is a monster found in Frankenstein’s Army with a plane propeller and engine for a head/torso. The one found in Village is a boss character with a similar configuration that you end up setting on fire, which coincidentally also happens in the film.

Apparently, this isn’t the only instance found in Village, either. A fan pointed out on Twitter other designs of Village monsters bearing similarities with Frankenstein’s Army monsters:

Capcom has yet to respond to the accusations.

Resident Evil Village is out now on PC, Google Stadia, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.

Big thanks to RelyOnHorror for this one.
