Before Simon Barrett returns to the V/H/S franchise with a segment in V/H/S/94, the writer behind You’re Next and The Guest makes his feature directorial debut with Seance, haunting theaters and VOD platforms on May 21, courtesy of RLJE Films.
“The film stars Suki Waterhouse (Assassination Nation, The Divergent Series: Insurgent) as the new girl at the prestigious Edelvine Academy for Girls. Soon after her arrival, six girls invite her to join them in a late-night ritual, calling forth the spirit of a dead former student who reportedly haunts their halls. But before morning, one of the girls is dead, leaving the others wondering what they may have awakened.”
Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive look at the film that’s not only produced by longtime Barrett collaborator Adam Wingard, but also Dark Castle Entertainment (House on Haunted Hill, Thirteen Ghosts, House of Wax, Orphan) – the company’s first horror movie in nearly ten years!
In the clip, Waterhouse is haunted in her dorm room by the aforementioned spirit, setting up one of the film’s scares.
Seance will be arriving on the Shudder streaming service at a later date this year.
