‘Howling Village’: ‘Ju-on’ Director Takashi Shimizu’s New Nightmare Releases on Friday the 13th [Trailer]

Best known as the creator of the Japanese Ju-on series and The Grudge franchise, Takashi Shimizu returns this year with Howling Village, inspired by a Japanese urban legend.

We’ve learned today that Dread will be releasing the film in Select Theaters August 13, followed by On Demand release August 17 and Blu-Ray release September 14.

Check out the trailer below, which carries strong Ju-on vibes…

In Howling Village, “After her brother goes missing, Kanade, a young psychologist visits his last known location, an infamous haunted and cursed site known as ‘Howling Village’ to investigate his disappearance. Her investigation reveals that the village’s mysteries are connected to her family and works to uncover her family’s dark history.”

Ayaka Miyoshi, Ryota Bando, Megumi Okina, and Renji Ishibashi star.

Takashi Shimizu and Daisuke Hosaka wrote the script.
