[Trailer] Meteor Brings an Alien Invasion in ‘Risen’

Vertical Entertainment shares the first trailer for Risen, a new sci-fi horror film that looks about as generic as you can get.

From director Eddie Arya, Risen pulls out all of the tropes while calling to mind everything from Invasion of the Body Snatchers to Ridley Scott’s Alien and John Carpenter’s The Thing.

Timing couldn’t be worse as it has to follow Amazon Studios’ epic spectacle The Tomorrow War, another alien invasion flick with a similar origin.

In Risen, “Disaster unfolds when a meteor strikes a small town, turning the environment uninhabitable and killing everything in the surrounding area. Exobiologist Lauren Stone is called to find answers to the unearthly event. As she begins to uncover the truth, imminent danger awakens and it becomes a race against time to save mankind.”

Vertical will release it on VOD platforms August 20th.
