If you thought we needed more cat-centric games like Etched Memories, BlueTwelve Studio and Annapurna Interactive have you covered with the first gameplay reveal of Stray. The third-person adventure is still aiming for release this year PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
Similar to that episode of Love, Death & Robots, Stray is set in a future where humans have presumably gone extinct, and what remains of society is run by machines. Oh yes, and cats are still around. One such cat is the game’s protagonist, which has become separated from its family, and is trying to find a way out of the city. Along the way, you’ll be untangling an “ancient mystery”.
Along the way, the cat will meet up with and befriend a small flying drone known as B12. B12 will also assist the player in solving the puzzles you’ll come across on your journey.
Now admittedly, this doesn’t quite seem “horror” enough for some. But the gloomy atmosphere, Dystopian backdrop and “unforeseen threats” you’ll face do paint something of a thriller. Plus, who doesn’t want to play as a cat?
