[Trailer] Over-The-Top FPS ‘Turbo Overkill’ Officially Announced, Aiming For 2022 Release

Any game that draws inspiration from Quake, Duke Nukem and Doom has to be great, right? That’s what publisher Apogee Entertainment and developer Trigger Happy Interactive are aiming for with the official announcement of Turbo Overkill (which we touched on earlier this year).

Set for release in 2022 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, Turbo Overkill is a “savage first-person shooter” that combines cyberpunk visuals with the previously-mentioned legendary titles.

You are Johnny Turbo, a “half-metal, half-human, half-crazy” cyborg armed to the teeth with hidden arm rockets and a chainsaw on your lower leg for that wicked roundhouse kick. Johnny returns to his hometown of Paradise and finds its entire population possessed by Syn, a rogue AI. Short on money to outrun his past, Johnny sets out to destroy Syn for the reward money. Unfortunately, rival bounty hunters also want that cash.

In addition to the ludicrous weapons at your disposal (telefragging with a sniper rifle?), Johnny is also equipped with Hero Time (TM), a new form of slow motion “with a twist”. You’ll need it, as you’ll be running on walls and dashing around to slice up foes across two dozen levels “packed with secrets, bonus arena stages, and white-knuckle combat puzzles.”

As if you needed more incentive to carve up your foes, each kill nets you some cash to allow you to upgrade your augments to deal even more damage. According to Sam Prebble, one half of Trigger Happy Interactive, Turbo Overkill is “fast, frenetic and ferocious—excess personified. Relentless enemies, extremely deadly and fun weapons, speed and precision above all else—if you love Quake III Arena, modern and classic DOOM, or Apogee’s legendary first-person shooters, you’ll feel right at home in Paradise.”

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
