Over 1.2 Million Households in the United States Have Streamed ‘Halloween Kills’ on Peacock

Released in both theaters and at home via Peacock this past weekend, Halloween Kills has thus far scared up $50 million at the domestic box office, but how is it performing at home?

According to Samba TV, a reliable source on this sort of thing, Halloween Kills was streamed by 1.2 million U.S. households on Peacock in its first weekend of release.

Samba details, “Viewership peaked on Saturday and skewed slightly female (+5%).”

How does this compare to other recent streaming releases? Here’s a breakdown of some weekend-of-release numbers, keeping in mind every situation is different at the moment:

  • A Quiet Place 2 – 521,000
  • Malignant – 753,000
  • The Many Saints of Newark – 1 million
  • Black Widow – 1.1 million
  • The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It – 1.6 million
  • The Tomorrow War – 2.4 million
  • The Suicide Squad – 2.8 million
  • Godzilla vs. Kong – 3.6 million
  • Mortal Kombat – 3.8 million

It’s interesting to note that the Peacock numbers for Halloween Kills are not that much higher than the HBO Max numbers for Malignant, but Halloween Kills crushed Malignant at the box office. Both films were released in theaters and on streaming all at once, but whereas Halloween Kills opened to $50 million, James Wan’s latest opened to just $5.4 million.

Long story short? Halloween Kills is further proof that audiences will head to the theater right now to see a movie they really want to see, even if it’s already streaming at home. And that bodes well for future releases that decide to employ a similar release strategy.
