‘Saw’ Film Franchise Producers Open to New Video Game Adaptation

Hands up for those who remember that the Saw film franchise spawned a video game. Yes, Zombie Studios’ 2009 game Saw wasn’t the most well-received (nor was its 2010 sequel), but it was something that fans could call their own. And according to the producers of the film franchise, we may yet see a third video game adaptation.

In a Reddit AMA last week with Mark Burg and Oren Koules, founders of Twisted Pictures and producers of the Saw franchise, a question came up in regards to the Saw games, and if there were any plans for more entries on next gen consoles. The response was emphatic. “100%. Lionsgate has brought us some amazing projects we are exploring now. But it will 100% happen.

Of course, there were other questions from fans, such as if Tobin Bell would be involved again in the franchise (“100%”), but a third Saw video game? With so much time having passed, we could get a game that reinvents the series from its “been there, done that” survival horror roots (and awful combat) into something more. Perhaps mixing in some Condemned or even some psychological horror to go along with some over-the-top and inventive traps is in order? We’ll have to wait and see.

Published by Konami, Saw was released on October 6, 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version followed on October 22. Saw II: Flesh and Blood was released on October 19, 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
