‘Deathloop’ Nominated for “Game of the Year” for DICE Awards, ‘Resident Evil Village’ Earns Four Nominations

Bethesda’s Deathloop continues to rake in the accolades with another “Game of the Year” nomination for the 25th Annual DICE Awards. The nominees for the event were announced this morning across 23 categories.

Deathloop leads genre titles with eight nominations, followed by Devolver Digital’s psychological horror card-battler Inscryption with six. Housemarque’s Returnal has five nominations, while Capcom’s Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 VR have four and two nominations, respectively. Xbox Game Studios’ Psychonauts 2 has three nominations, while Warner Bros. Games’ Back 4 Blood has a single nomination in the Online Game of the Year category.

For “Game of the Year”, Deathloop is up against Inscryption, It Takes Two (which earned the “Game of the Year” award at The Game Awards 2021), Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Returnal. Meanwhile, Village has earned nominations in “Outstanding Achievement in Animation”, “Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction”, “Outstanding Achievement in Character” and “Adventure Game of the Year” (joined by Devolver Digital’s Death’s Door and Psychonauts 2).

Resident Evil 4 VR, of course, has nominations in VR-centric categories “Immersive Reality Technical Achievement” and “Immersive Reality Game of the Year”.

The awards are arranged by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), and held during the AIAS’ annual DICE Summit in Las Vegas. The DICE Awards take place on February 24 at the Mandalay Bay Resort, and will be livestreamed courtesy of IGN.
