Fan Group Shows off Gameplay for ‘Resident Evil Code: Veronica’ Remake [Video]

If you’re excited for the upcoming fan-made Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake (and who isn’t?), the team behind the remake has dropped a new video showing off the first five minutes of gameplay. Created by Matt Croft, Briins Croft and DarkNemesisUmbrella, the free-to-play remake is still aiming for a release later this year.

As for the gameplay video itself, it kicks off after Claire has been captured on Rockfort Island, and having just been released from her prison cell. The remake is running in Unity, with the video being captured in real time. It’s also not to be considered the final representation of the game itself, as there will be tweaks made leading up to the final release.

Sadly, there’s no zombie action to speak of with the footage, but the footage does show off the team’s work with the environment.

As for whether Capcom will come down on the Code: Veronica remake project, that remains to be seen. There’s the obligatory disclaimer at the start of the gameplay video, but that might not be enough to dissuade Capcom. We’ll just have to see.

Meanwhile, the team is also behind a remake of the 2002 Resident Evil remake, which is also slated for release later this year.
