Mercenaries Mode, New Challenges Mode Arrive in ‘Resident Evil 4 VR’

Resident Evil 4 VR players longing for the addition of Mercenaries Mode, rejoice! Capcom has finally added the mode (for free!) after teasing fans with it last November. The addition was announced during the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase.

For those wondering just what Mercenaries Mode in Resident Evil 4 is all about (because let’s be honest: not everyone knows), the mode puts you through a gauntlet of waves of enemies across a variety of levels, racking up points for each kill. Not only do you have to contend with keeping your health up, there’s a timer ticking down before you’re rescued via helicopter, so you’ve got to amass a high score while staying alive.

On top of Mercenaries Mode, Resident Evil 4 VR also now has “20 all-new, made-for-virtual reality Challenges”. In Challenges Mode, you’re put up against different scenarios, each with restricted conditions for completing them. In completing these Challenges, you can unlock new modes that can be used in the main game. Big Head Mode? A black-and-white Classic Horror Mode? Those modes and more are available to unlock in Challenges.

Resident Evil 4 VR is available for the Meta Quest via Oculus Store.
