With a new villain who traps his victims in a nightmare realm before brutally killing them, “Stranger Things 4” has been drawing many comparisons to A Nightmare on Elm Street, and that Freddy Krueger influence on the season was undeniably intentional. In fact, the Duffer Brothers conceived Vecna from the very beginning as their own version of the Dream Demon!
Naturally, it didn’t take long for someone to cut together a “Stranger Things 4” fan edit that reimagines the season as a Nightmare on Elm Street film, and that fan is José Mellinas.
With the warning that the video includes some “Stranger Things 4” spoilers, you can check out José’s mashup below, which really does feel like it could be a new Elm Street nightmare.
And it doesn’t hurt that Robert Englund himself appears in “Stranger Things 4.” Or that Vecna sounds a lot like Freddy Krueger. Or that he victimizes a young woman named Nancy.
